The budget should be balanced, the treasury should be refilled, public debt should be reduced, the arrogance of officialdom should be tempered and controlled, and the assistance to foreign lands should be curtailed lest Rome become bankrupt. People must again learn to work, instead of living on public assistance.

Instead, the world gets "No Banker Left Behind" (unless Paulson doesn't like you, like Lehman Brothers). Privatising profit, nationalizing loss is corporate welf... socialis... no wait, it has another name. Starts with F and ends in the usual "ism". And the whole Western world follows with a panicked, glazed stare.
