Well, I'm now back from the homeworld. I had a very good time with many portions of the family. It was very good to see the grandparents (85, 87 and 91) again. The cousins, an aunt, nieces and nephew were also cool to see (a couple I had never met yet). And my mother, of course.

I'm not going to go into any detail about the 'loot'. Everyone in the family is comfortable (not wealthy, but not quite going paycheque to paycheque either). We generally don't spend a lot on gifts. Things to attach memories to, momento-type things are the usual order. Except the young'uns. They get a bit spoiled. But I think that's a part of the job.

The weather nearly was perfect. A few degrees below freezing, almost no wind, clear skies or very high cloud and a coating of snow (3-4 cm) to give things a Christmassy feel. Above average temps, but as I say, I consider the weather nearly perfect.

I had an opportunity to do some reflection on things, of course, and I ended up directing a lot of energy at those who mean the most to me. I think they know who they are. I hope it helps. --shrugs--

Leaving is always a bit sad, but I think the visit was about long enough for the Christmas period. More would be overkill, I think. Besides, I had a visitor showing up in Toronto the next day.

The trip back was a bit longer than anticipated. I really am beginning to despise Air Canada. But I survived, and all that. And slept. Then headed back to the airport the next day (yesterday now) to meet p0rt at the airport. I thought I was going to be late; he ended up being a couple minutes later so it's all good.

It's especially good to have him here. Better than any Christmas/New Year's present I could have hoped for. --wags happily--
